Its been a HECTIC weekend for me, to say the least
and I wasn't able to stay up and watch the Oscars (not that I actually owned a TV)
But it looks like Slumdog Millionaire has scooped up most of the prizes this year

Sure, Slumdog Millionaire was a great feel-good movie, spectacular soundtrack and a good mix bwtween traditional/cultural elements and the materialistic- westernised influences in society and all, but call me a b*tch for even having this thought in my head:

Was the Miss World title of 2007 not awarded to Miss China immediately pursant to its committment under the WTO agreement to open its services sectors to foreign companies?

http://www.opinionasia.org/ButtressingChinasSoftPowerArsenal

and Thailand won Miss Universe in 1988 after scandalous pardons were signed between USA and Thailand over minefields placed during the Vietnam War.

Even the Eurovision song contests votes seem to be casted in the economic/political interest of neighbours:

(this guy says otherwise: http://www.ewanspence.com/blog/2008/05/25/the-myth-of-political-voting-at-eurovision/)

I am a spitelful, overjudgemental b*tch for noting that India is an influential member of the G77 :-s
